Hey everyone. New guy here, but not so new to tanks. I decided to start up my 72 gallon bow-front tank again. I have had sw fish in it before but this is going back about 10 years or so. I picked up a new Eheim classic 2217 today along with some other junk. I have an old uv filter and a sandstorm filter, are these things even used anymore? Anyway, I have about 1" of live sand and I plan on putting live rock in. Everything seems to be running smooth, now just the waiting game till everything settles down and clears up. I'll be sure to snap some photos when that happens. Also, one question to start off with, should my filter bar be out of the water to create air? I also have a Koralia 4 1200gph powerhead in the tank for circulation, should that be aimed up / down / straight ? Where in the tank should that be placed? Thanks!

I'm not sure if this was the best time to start this back up, my wife and I are expecting our first child in 9 days. Wish me luck!

glutton for punishment !! lol good luck.
Power head on a end closer to the top with a slight pitch downward? its really relative to what critters you wish to keep and where they/it resides...some stuff like heavy flow...some does not...
don't need any bubbles...so filter bar is a nix?...just keep reading this forum and you will see how much has changed in 10 years. IMO
    Good luck again,
    LG

I actually just realized I shouldn't be asking questions in this thread...lol, my first post and already breaking the rules...

I'll post my questions in the appropriate threads.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I put about 25 lbs of live rock in today, all the dust settled down and the water is nice and clear, I plan on putting a pair of tank raised clowns in sometime tomorrow. I'll be sure to add some pics when I do so. :cheesy:
