thanks all!!!! Lol, it is funny how the coralline stayed, it is covered with it including the rocks. I had to remove several pieces of rock that sadly was covered with hair algea in the tank and replace it. We have probably 300lb of cured rocks in our old 125g tank waiting to be used that has as you can see NO coralline algea on it, so that is why the front rock is like that (we are using this tank to hold a few fish). I should have taken a picture of how bad the tank looked prior to redoing it, it was covered in hair algea, red slime, aiptasia and bubble algea!

The pavona is THRIVING........and during this time grew onto the glass. The other coral that actually survived that i am not sure you can see is the blue lithophyllon. That coral I am very glad survived and had actually only receeded a very small bit! It is very pretty in person.

Yeah it is a 29g nano. It is the stock MH light and it does very well doing SPS! I have another 28g t5 tank with the stock light and i removed the top and used a clamp on MH light and also grew SPS. But the non-mh lights IMO is not enough

Also as you can see, I dont think there is enough flow in any of the stock pumps. I have increased the back pumps to maxijet 1200s (i dont think that is what the have stock) and have 3koralias in it. I am getting ready to add 1 more in the back. This tank has a ton of dead spots in it!

I have both the nano (2 of them) and biocube (2 of them) all 28 or 29g.

Mel, get a wp25 when they come out to go into that tank. With the settings on there, you would be surprised at what you can do with only 1 pump. On my tank, with the WP40, I see movement with all other pumps turned off. I do run 2 koralias pointed into the back of the rock but I'm sure I could get away without them.

    Welcome back!

I also have 2 large colonies of Protopalys.
Even with trying to be careful, I got an infection in my thumb that was spreading up my arm! I had to go to work in the E.R. that same day, so I started my shift with a gram of IV antibiotics- then worked a 10 hr shift. then took PO- by mouth from there.

From the literature- apparently one of the bothersome bacterial species in the Palys is some called Vibrio for short.- I now have 2 of the best PO antibiotics already in my drawere in case another problem- so I can avoid the IV and visit.
B/C I got IV Abx, I still had to pay my deductalbe for the visit, etc.

Sorry for the dribble, be careful my friend, and again, welcome back!

PS- reminds of the posts I've seen here and other forums when a reefer goes in to the local E.R., and tells them 'I think I"ve been exposed to Protopanythoa Toxin', form what, "MY fish tank'
And usually not having heard of this, they just rool their eyes and think the person is nuts!

As most all of us know, it's some bad stuff!

wow, that is scary also!!! Glad your arm is ok and that they listened! When I had my eye exposure, i was very lucky because the ER doctor believed me when I told them that I thought it was from the paly! She was in the room doing onsite reviews (which there isnt much medical literature out there) and responded right away and flushed my eyes. Had they not, i am not sure what would have happened............I believe that I would have actually lost my eyeball. My opthamologist has told me he has presented my case to many in rounds and other presentaiton and is in the process of writting up and publishing a paper on palythoa exposure in the eye. So hopefully next time someone gets exposed the info might be readily available.

They were pretty sure my problem was not from a bacteria but from the palythoa toxin itself simply due to the sheer amount of nerve damage that I had and to this day still have! They are still having problems fitting me with a lens and i am not sure they will actually be able to anymore.......which i am fine with at this point. The cornea is so messed up nothing is staying in place regardless of how they make it and because of the nerve damage I do not realize it has rolled off to the back part of my eye and then causes more problems.

There are sooo much bacteria in tanks that it is scary. TB, staph, vibrios etc....... I am anal now washing my hands!!!

I guess the end of this month? From the video I saw, they are pretty intense. I'll tell you, I couldn't be happier with my WP40. One thing I have noticed is the increased skimming. My skimmer seems to be producing more but I think the Vinegar dosing may also have something to do with that.
