One of my biggest pet peeves is a tank with no background where you can see all the gear and wires.I paint mine black for contrast and depth. But on my freshwater tanks,i still like the rolled 2 sided sceanery backgrounds. If you cut the background to size and then use vaseline on the glass, apply the background and squeegie it on with a credit card or drivers licence,it gets rid of the air bubbles and makes the colors "pop" under the lights comparaired to just a taped on background.

Just a FYI if you paint the back with vinyl roll on paint you can take it off it one sheet. Just peel up one corner and it comes off in one peice.

I am with Mr. Bill, oh noooo!!!! I have the same background sheeting. I use the blue side, I think it gives the tank depth. It is extremely inexpensive, about $1.00 a sq. ft. You just tape it to the back of your tank.

Like Bill I opted for the double backing, in all black. I used SeaView Gel to adhere it an wow does that stuff work great!

Thats where my problem was the "Sea view" I have used it on my fresh water tanks with no problems, but with saltwater it just started to come off after about 2-3 weeks but as I said I am growing a few soft corals on the glass, but in a controlled fashion as I may put black 3M vinyl sticker material on the back later on

I used a 5% window tint from walmart. It is a static cling basically vinyl sheet. Very easy to put on and no cleaning adhesive if you take it off. It is also very forgiving when applying it. At 5% you can't see through it unless you are holding a light behind the tank. Has worked well for me just my 2 cents.

Do you put the background inside the tank? Why not just stick it on the outside?

I used a piece of vinyl for the back on my tank. It sticks to the back of the tank and if you ever want to change it you can just peel it off. I do have more if you want to use it. I also have different colors to choose from too.
