So I know there is a thread on background color but what about paint? I just bought a 120 and will be upgrading from my RedSea. I'm a little nervous about painting a brand new tank. Is there a paint that scrapes off easier then anothers incase you want to change the position/location of your tank. Not that I plan on moving it. but the thought of paint seems very permanent. Maybe it's just me being picky.. :)

That's actually not a bad Idea. Thanks- I was thinking about a kids paint or something that my scrape off with a plastic razor blade. My concern in no with the back but rather the sides. I'm doing an in wall now but if year down the road I move or up grade again I don't want the aquarium to be junk because the sides are painted too.

well, i would definitely use a latex paint. I can't recall a product off hand that would be like that. However, I would imagine that a lot of paints would fairly easily scrape off glass.

I used a spray paint. Krylon Indoor/Outdoor flat black. It is the kind that drys in 10 minutes. I was very happy. There is another kind that seems to work well also, Krylon Fusion. It dries in 15 minutes. I have read posts where people were very happy with that one as well.

Use artists' acrylic paint. It will pull off in sheets like mentioned above.. very easily.
Very cheap too.. you can get some at Michaels craft store for a buck or too.

Thats actually a really good idea if you wanted to be able to pull it off. I bet you could find it at Auto Zone or wally world. With my tank I went with black latex and I rolled it on with a foam roller (took like 5 coats). I think I could pull it off without a razor blade.

Anyone have an in wall? That's what I'm building now. If so did you paint the back and the two sides? or just the back?

you would probably have to paint sides and the back or else you would see the inside of the wall you cut into and you would see behind the tank. It would depend on your set up.
