is there a correlation to sps tissue loss and bacteria blooms?

My corals are in dads tank and his POS skimmer crapped out. Then both cleaner shrimps died during molts in one night (tuesday night). By the next morning there was a bacteria bloom. The bloom has lasted until now and is going away only VERY slowly... the lps look normal, however my sps have slight tissue loss at small spots. i did a 5% water change last night but that didnt help much at all. A larger change is mixing as we speak
    Any ideas/fixes?

I think you are on the right track. I am not sure the bacterial bloom is the problem or the failure of the skimmer and the lack of removal for poisons.

    run UV.
The correlation I would imagine is that of the reduced avalible light in the tank

If it's really bacteria, it could be from a ammonia/nitrite spike. If it's air bubbles (looks like a bacterial bloom sometimes), it could be irritating corals too.

its def not microbubbles. and ammonia spike was a concern of mine right when i saw the small spots of tissue loss today. i tested ammonia once i saw missing tissue, then again this afternoon, both were zero.
