my 7.5 month old tank has been in a bacterial bloom for 3 days now. the water is slightly cloudy with a milky appearance. this is not normal for my tank as the water is usually crystal clear. Im not sure what could have triggered this. lets just say i am VERY careful with my tank, and also do weekly water changes with rodi etc. Is this something normal for a 7.5 month old tank? i understand this is still relatively young.

0 tds and i check it all the time. no major changes at all. i dont really test much as its a small, lightly stocked tank and i do regular water changes. the times ive tested, everything was ok. The ONLY thing i can think of here is i recently (within the last 2 weeks) got my cuc from reefcleaners. I put quite a bit of snails in the tank.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    How large is your tank?

Is it possible that enough snails died to promote a bacterial bloom?

Do you have an ammonia level?

I would run some fresh carbon.

Increase the O2 by adding another source or directing the flow towards the water surface.

If ammonia is detectable I would do a water change.

    Possible spawning event?

I have experience clouding of this nature in my reef after a couple of years
a few weeks later, several very tiny Astrea snails were all over the place

its a 20 gallon tank. I do believe it is possible that the snail addition could have caused it. ive been taking some of them out because i feel there are too many. i honestly dont test. i only have a damsel, a shrimp, corals, and the cuc. i feed lightly, have a aqua c remora skimmer which is more than enough for my tank, and do weekly 25% w/c which i may cut back to every other week. ive been doing them weekly since the start but think its a bit overkill.
