To do it the fastest and most efficiently just take the rock out and soak it under freshwater or boil them with hot water. To use kalk, lemon juice or Joe's juice with that many in that small a tank, would not be worth it and too time consuming, plus the fact that water parameters changing in a small space are also evident as mentioned already!
Now if the 10gallon tank was a refugium, I would say don't worry about it as I employ the use of Aiptasia for suitable filter feeders with success!

Nudibranches do work great and are pretty cool to watch as well.... Not terribly expensive but to make a dent in there you would probably need at least 6....

The other upside is that it will take them a while to do it, but the the numbers he's talking about he would undoubtely have them breeding as well, so he could post the nudis for sale and I'm sure will find local reefers more than happy to get some for a discounted price....no doubt making everything back that you spend up front. Seen/heard it done many times...

That's the approach I would take and wouldn't upset the balance of the tank....

Wish I lived closer I have 2 copperbands that are really needing some aptasia to eat. I need something that eats manjos now.

I thought Majanos were aiptasia? I read an article that says the sea grass filefish (Acreichthys tomentosus) eat majanos, then italicized it says Aiptasia.. FYI it said if it does not have the above and introduced foods it may pick at some corals.

No there is a huge difference between majanos and glass anenomes aka aptasia. I have yet to find anything to kill them but a blowtorch and its hard to get every one of them with it.
I will have to check on the fish you listed thanks.

I would nuke the rock. The biological filtration aspect of it shouldnt be too bad since he has no fish. Just do a few rocks at a time - keeping the clean ones seperate from the others so the aiptasia can't spread to them. I have good results with Joe's Juice as well. I have tried lemon juice, lime juice, boiling water, super glue, and peppermint shrimp and none of those worked. And BTW just for info, it doesnt matter if you have "true" peppermint shrimp - it's still not uncommon for them for them NOT to touch aiptasia.

Well, here's my story that is still ongoing...

We have an 8lb rock that had probably 50+ aiptasia on it in our tank. I took the rock out and put it in our 10gal QT and went to work with Aiptasia-X, which is similar to Joe's Juice.

Day 1: Shot all the aiptasia I could find with loads of Aiptasia-X.
Day 2: Couldn't see any aiptasia.
Day 4: 10 to 20 aiptasia heads popped up, small ones. Shot them all up.
Day 6: Shot up a few more aiptasia that popped up.

Day 10: Probably 100 new aiptasia popped up again...

I did this whole ordeal with no lights on the tank, not sure if that helps or not.

Anyways, my opinion is that you're not going to have any luck trying to shoot up the aiptasia. They just seem invincible.

I am going to just nuke the rock, which is sad because it's a nice one with tons of purple coralline on it :furious2:. Aiptasia-x might work if it's just a couple aiptasia, but when it gets out of control like this I don't think it's the right course of action.
