I just added a new birds nest. One of my first sps corals and almost immediately my bicolor angel is targeting it. Right now I have a plastic bottle around it but it wants it. What do I do. Do attempt to catch him and rehome him?

You get rid of one of two.

Agreed, one of them will have to go.

Thanks for the help. I still have the bottle around the coral. I will see what I can do tomorrow. This is just a little upsetting. I have had him going on 3 years and he has never once touched a coral. I will have to do a serious gut check. I don't want him to stop me from adding sps corals but also I feel bad. Thanks again for the help.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I have never had an Angel go from starting to nip corals and clams and then stop. The Angel unfortunately always had to be removed. For me this usually involved lowering the water level significantly to capture the little monster.

I don't foresee his behavior changing either. He was getting pretty bold trying to get at it. I was standing right there with my hand in the tank and he still wanted to get it. It's like I was a parent telling a teenager NO.
I have a big enough DIY trap that I built a while ago. I think all I will have to do is place the coral in there and he will go right in (perfect world).

Yep, you just finally added something he likes. It's never an easy choice in a situation like that, but the Angel has obviously already made his. :(

Same happened to me with my favorite fish a beautiful flame angel. started to go to town on a beautiful jewel rock.

The flame angle was sold to the highest bidder.
