Hello all. . . .Found this in my sump today in my skimmer bay. Any ideas? It looks like it has something of a mouth. Btw its not in the display tank and its not in the other two bays, refuge and return bay, just the skimmer bay.

    Is it flat worms?

Also there are two separate items in my first picture are they the same thing?

It appears that they are fixed to the skimmer and to the dividers between bays as well as the skimmer pump.

From my research this far all I can guess is that it's scypha sponges.

Yes those are pineapple sponges, they are harmless. Commonly found in dark area of a tank or sump.

sponges work like a human stomach would pulling water and micro particles in through 1 inlet and filter it out through another
