Hi, I'm new to owning a reef tank. I recently found a bad hitchhiker crab in my rocks and need to get rid of this. I tried catching him but he is very quick. So I decided to pull apart my rock. We he is in there but doesn't want to come out. Does anyone have a clue how to get him?!

    THANKS!

Simple trap is a jam jar. leaned against the rock- with food in, crab slides in but cant climb back out

more complicated is a device like Trapest from Aquamedic, which has a series of plastic slats than only move 1 way - so crab fights its way in for food OK , but then cannot get back out

simpler method that worked for me, take out rock that crab is in, hold it in a bucket of tank water and shake, rattle and roll until the dizzy crab falls out

    Hi Kc
Pointy claws, rip and tear, rounded claws, gather - generally, there are exceptions

but if its got pointy claws, then it stands a good chance of becoming a nuisance at some stage
