This might be a little off topic but a few months ago i got some bum coralife bulbs, that did not even last a month before they burned out, and after contacting there customer service, and not even getting a responds from them. I have come to the conclusion there stuff just is not up to par any longer and i will no longer use there products. and what a shame i used to believe there products were good.

Since then the lfs owner told me they were bought out and he also felt there quality is not what it used to be.

    :( :( :(

I've seen this question before and it always receives a plethora of responses.

The dozen or so times whenever I mixed my IO salt in water for a new tank, doing it slow as the poster indicated, after a couple of days there's always been a chalky residue on my glass too. This has only been when 100% of the water was newly mixed and added to the tank.

After wiping it off it may again accumulate, but two or three wipes later, it's gone for good. I've never seen it as a problem.

I've never had it happen when doing water changes; and suspect that's because the new water never comprises more than 25% of the total system's volume.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with the salt you had. If you gave it a week and wiped your glass down a few times, it would have gone away on its own.
