Thank you again for your wishes. She's coming home tomorrow night. Right now she is recovering from surgery at the hospital so the can keep an eye on her for a couple days. Her operation went exceedingly well for what it was. Hopefully we will be able to spoil her for many months yet until she starts to collapse again, at which point there will be nothing more to do but say goodbye. She is a Spinone Italiano by the way, a rare breed in the USA, but getting more common. They are a hunting dog from the Italian Alps. They look a lot like german wire-haired pointers with a little more hair.

    Thanks again. -LCP

I recently (last week) lost my dog who had been with my family for the past 9 years. He ate a towel. Yeah, a cloth towel. It made a mess inside his intestines.

I really hope your dog makes it ok.

    Regards.

I'm sorry to here that artrichter001. Anyone who's had a dog knows that its not just a dog, its a member of the family.

She's been home for a few days, and I haven't been able to get to the computer. She is recovered from surgery pretty much and she is VERY happy. The biopsy came back and it is exactly what they thought- Hermangioma Sarcoma. We have the oncologists at the best veterinary hospital around looking at her case and I'll here if they'll take her tomorrow, but there may just be nothing they can do. Thanks again for the support.

Thank you vampyre. Actually, her case was accepted by Tufts Veterinary Hospital. They are doing things such as cutting edge gene therapy for this exact cancer. While they won't have a miracle cure for her, they may be able to use some new treatments and hopefully my dog will help them develop a cure so that later dogs can be saved. Maybe they can give her a couple more months while they're at it.

Cherish the next months as if you only have a few days and hopefully it will turn to years! It is never easy to say good bye but I often tell our clients (I am a vet tech at a vet clinic here) to pick three things that your friend dearly loves to do. MY dogs three things would be playing ball, eating and greeting us at the door when we come home. As you see those things disappear, you know quality of life for them is no longer quality. LIke I said it is never easy and take this time and cherish it!!!

She had a rough night last night. Its only been two weeks, but the cancer was already back. We brought her in and we had to put her down a couple hours ago around 8:30 this morning. The vet said that it was one of the easiest she'd ever seen. She was definitely ready to go. It took less than a minute. The house is very empty with only one dog in it. Its going to take some getting use to.

Thank you all for your thoughts and wishes through this process.
