I got a story for you all, it may help with how low is to low for specific Gravity.
two weeks ago, my garibaldi damsel got stuck in a rock and scraped himself bad, so bad he died the next day. It was time for a water change, so i whent to the lfs and bought about 16 gallons of "saltwater". Before the water change, my yellow tang was acting funny, and my scooter blenny hardly would come out. I did my water change, and all seemed to go well. Next day, i notice a big diference in my fishes behavior, they were hyper as hell. This behavior continued for a week. My scooter blenny started to wsim around some more and all. Real weird!!!
I started working on my cl system for water circulation(thats what i decided to go with) and i was aquascaping a little to place the pvc pipes. Somehow, i dunno how, some of the saltwater came into my mouth, and i didnt feel it to salty. I checked my salinity, sg, it was at 1.014!!!!!
The water they gave me wasnt saltwater, it was RO-DI!!!
So i started adding salt straight into the sump, 5 cumps at a time, 2-3 times a day, and it took me around 4-5 days to raise the salt. Since then, my fish are eating more, swiming faster, and the scooter blenny is out more.
Moral of the story, always were socks!!!! j/k
I dont think youll have a problem bringin the salt to 1.016 if you dont have corals, but if your fish looks a lot better at 1.020, keep it at 1.020
PLEASE DONT DO DRASTIC MEASURES ON PURPOSE, BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!!

Thanks Turbo. I hate to hear you damsel died! He was really cool. I have to seconde what you said about the SG. When I first stared my nano I did the same thing. But one bucket of water can change alot in a 15 gallon tank!! I was around 1.013!! My clown didnt seem to mind though, lol. Thank god I didnt have coral at the time. The angel is comming out alot now, and look alot darker. Plus it is eating like a pig again. I have some new food comming in this week, so mybe it will also help. On another thread, there are some of us asking how to sup garlic?? Do you use store garlic, or a special fish garlic?? I mite order some Rid-Ick+ and see what that does. I can keep the cleaner shrimp in the tank with that stuff.

Theres a couple of garlic formulas you buy in s fishstore, and personally i rather deal with that so i wont get the mess on me, plus its been tested before. Theres actually many solutions you put on the fishfood to entice their apetite and make em eat, while enrichening the vitamin property in the foods. Ima be going to my freinds lfs in about 20 minutes, ima find out for you. What i have done in the past though is either of both. If at an early stage, i have freshwater dipped the fish, and that has basically killed it. Or if a lil more profound case of ick, i place the fish in my qt and dose with calcium while running a aquaclear 500 filter and uv sterilizer. That seems to get rid of it in a few days. But ick is the fishes way of stressing out, so sometimes theese changes in their environment can defect them even more, so always handle with care!

Thanks again for the info!! And thanks for asking the LFS, I have no one to go to down here, :( . I hate to say it, but I think this mite be velvet!!! The spots are getting really small, and it almost looks as if there is a light white film on the angel. Ive never had an angel before so I dont know if they have a light white look from the side or not, but this stuff is spreading to the fins and is super small. Ive read this stuff is nothing to mess with, and I could loose most of the fish in my tank!!!!! This down right sucks! I mite have to tear the tank down, bleach everyting and start over if it gets out of control. Im holding up for now, but this mite wipe out everything Ive done so far. Wish me luck,

    Michael
