Bak-Pak 2R or Remora w/maxijet 1200, need to choose.

Does any one have any experience with the Bak-pak 2R skimmer?

or would the Remora Skimmer W/Maxijet 1200 AquaC be a better choice?



I currently have a Magnum 250 w/bio wheel and I dont think its doing the job.
I clean it every two weeks but it seems that after the 1st day it looses pressure and hardly any water flows through it. Either way I'm ready to try a skimmer.

I have a 30gal, FOWLR, with the possibility of expanding to reef in the near future.

I have the remora and remora pro skimmers and they truly are set and forget. There is no venturi valve to have to keep adjusting or keep clean. In addition you can increase the efficiency of the skimmers by using larger pumps. I use a Rio 1400+ pump on my smaller remora. Its rated at 425gph vs 295 for the maxijet. This greatly improved the amount of skimmate produced. This will give you the option of moving up to a larger tank without having to get a new skimmer.
Also, Aqua C who makes the remora's have a customer service that is second to none. They promptly reply to your emails and have a phone number to call. They have sent me replacement parts for free on a couple of occasions.

 

Thanks I went with the Remora i'm on my second day with it and its already pumping out some nasty stuff in the cup.
