So i've saved my pennies, done as much reading as possible and i've got it done to three. I've heard good an bad things about the Bak-pak and coralife skimmers and i am leaning towards the Aqua C but i thought id ask every ones opinion on which they'd chose.

It has to be HOB and it HAS to be quiet as the tank is in my bedroom. I would say i have a heavy bio-load tho i don't really know (see my sig)

My questions about the Aqua C for those who have it is how loud it is?

I'm trying to only spend $200 or less.

Between those three, the aqua c is the better skimmer, hands down. Not even close.
I would also look at Octopus or the Aquamedic Turboflotor.

+1 I own the Aqua C and its very quite. My tank is also in my room and it never has bother me. It may be worth it to buy the overflow box that comes with it for surface skimming. I would recommend an Aqua C to anyone.

A bit off target, Wrassfan, but how is your coral beauty with coral nipping?

Yea i gonna order the Aqua C :)

I have a very well behaved coral beauty, it dosent bother my mushroom or zoa colonies but i also haven't had anything else in my tank besides mushrooms and zoas.

    Hope that helps

I used to run an Aqua C Remora. Nice skimmer. Loudness is so subjective, it's hard to tell you how loud it is for an individual. I found it to make some noise, more so than my current skimmer, but you get used to it as it is constant. It won't wake you up at night, but if you have a significant other, they may not be too fond of it.

My AquaC is quiet. I've read other posts of people complaining about the noise. I never figured out why some people have complained about them being loud. I bought mine used off of eBay so maybe mine was modified somehow to make it quieter but everything looks original to me.

As far as skimming goes it always skims pretty wet dark green color skimmate. I'm running mine with a 802 powerhead because with a maxijet 1200 it wasn't pulling out much.
