ball valve on return pump?

    Fezzz, how about a picture of this standpipe of yours? At the very least, whip up a drawing of it in MS Paint.

    I got my 90 with the standpipe included, and it was poorly designed. I wound up tossing it, buying the PVC and fittings from Home Depot, and with the help of Tangster and Otty, I finally got it right.

    Gurgling is not inevitable, nor is it part of the deal. When you get yours right, it will be silent. :)

    My pump is 2500, either rio or taam. Not sure, it's brand new and my system is about 260 litres. The sump is in the cupboard directly underneath so doesn't have to push uphill too far. Does making a tee cause other problems like air bubbles? Recomend teeing it off or not?

    The air bubbles will come from the water splashing back into the tank, thats an easy fix. My concern is that if you are hearing loud noises from restricting the pump...either your pump is old and getting ready for replacement, or its not rated for the work its doing. A make / brand name would be helpful.
