Ballasts & light fixtures?

I plan on getting a 150watt odyssea fixture and want to replace the ballast with a 175watt icecap ballast... will this work?

Look into ICs specs.. Most SE ballasts WILL NOT run DE lamps properly if at all.. Galaxy Electronic ballast will.

 

no the 175 is se just like the doc says. icecap does have a 150 hqi though.

 

Icecap does have a 150 hqi, they just dont manufacturer them anymore. Meaning its not in their catalog but if you look around you will find one.

 

there are other quality ballast at decent prices. galaxy is good and i've heard good things about vertex ballast (seen the 150 in these for 97 dollars at marine depot). the vertex has a 3 year warranty i believe. thats a great warranty for a ballast.

FWIW, IC never manufactured any ballasts. They simply farm the ballasts out to others, usually just slapping their name on the case and calling them IC ballasts. So many times you can find the exact same ballast for less, either in a different color or similar case.

 

Can you say Ice Cap lamps? They are UVL T5s with an IC name on them...

Dude Tom, everyone does that.. Heck GE makes EVERYTHING. You think Kent, Seachem, or whoever make RO cartridges? NO GE does and rebrands them...
