Well my one insufficient cooling fan has been coming on quite a bit recently on and off so I wanted some quiet cooling fans(thanks to those who replied to my thread for those) but in the mean time I needed something to hold me over until then.

I had some egg crate, wires, and a 12v AC-DC plug so I went to work..

This is what I created.. Let see how well it works, and I am going to follow its progress over the next 2 hours to watch it work. Or see if it does anyways.

I might have to try this. I wanted to use acrylic, but egg crate will be easier.

for sure go for it. It dropped my temp 1 degree in 1 hour 15 minutes. Which is not bad for dropping heat. Not to mention keeping it steady. I think it kicks butt..

my tank has been doing wonderfully since the addition of the fans. I still wanted more, so I am adding vents to my hood and tweaking with my fan via a variable resistor to slow it down and cut the noise. Pics to follow shortly.

Pictures of the new updates for you DIYers out there.

1st to cool my hood better I purchased an AC register and modified it to fit flush on top of my stand.

and while waiting for my drills to recharge to make some holes I mounted up my fan speed knob. Here it is.

and then I found a little friend in my place that was willing to help with some work.. He is the size of a lima bean.

Now the drilling and filing out the holes to make them smooth. I really need a jig-saw
