I would say that without fish, corals, and stand it would be close to $1500 in random costs, probably on the higher side. I got the tank and stand for $5 in a raffle so I never got to factor that in, but I know for sure I have spent quite a bit. It would have been more if starting from scratch, but I had a lot of equipment and I sold stuff for new stuff. Hope that makes sense..

    Thanks

Thanks. That does make sense. I will be building a DIY stand. The cost is getting to me :( but it will be awesome when I get it together. :) I will be buying most everything new. I'll get that coralife 125, used. Once I am ready for it, he(3reef user) will send it to me. I have a used 55g tank, which I need to reline with silicone. Everything else is new.

yeah, it adds up quick. The stand should help a lot though. I know that the price of my stand (if I didn't win it) was like $500, canopy about $300, and the tank a good $200 so I hit the jackpot there.

ok Thanks. lol Looking at these fish & other peoples' tanks makes me want to go bigger on my build. But 55 is enough for now. :) I'll upgrade again once I am out of college. I'll just try and make what I have look really nice.
