Hey guys, I can't believe my frst post has to be in here but I woke up this morning to find that my 16" Banded snake eel is nowhere to be found! He's always super easy to locate but this morning I looked everywhere!

I checked all around the tank, in all the "hiding places" I checked in all the tubage, etc, basically anywhere & everywhere he could possibly be and I can't even find a trace of him. Everything else is normal..

I have no idea where he could be! Any ideas would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

2 things i can think of to find it ... Is put food in the tank and see if it comes out of some where....

And second.. Is there a chance it may have jumped/crawled out.?? and if so is there any furniture close by it may have crawled into..?

I Hope Idea number 1 works... and not number 2...

    Good Luck....

Do you have a secure lid on the tank? Eels are escape artists, and will try to get out eventually. If that has happened, it could be anywhere really, as they move decently on land. Could be in a completely different room.

My tank lid is fairly secure, there are like 2 places that he could probably squeeze thru if he really wanted to and was lucky enough to find them. The only thing is, if he did escape out of the tank, he went REALLY far, because I checked everywhere within 20 feet of the tank..

It sucks too because I was already late for work when this had happened so I hoped for the best (that he just found a perfect hiding spot in the tank that I couldn't see) & left..

It's been on my mind all day so far & I've been debating trying to run home at lunch but that's pushing it for me on time.

This may be the dumbest question yet, but he's not snake enough to live all day out of the water right? I just hate the thought that he could be dying somewhere! grrrrr this is driving me crazy!

Thanks for the help so far guys and I'll keep you posted! As soon as I do get home I'll try putting a little food in the water to try & coax him out.. Thanks again!

This is driving me crazy! I've looked EVERYWHERE so thuroughly! No trace! I hope he is just in an amazing hiding spot... If he did get out and he got somewhere that I just can't find, would I smell him? It's been like 10 hours now & my girl thought that if got out we'd probably smell something. We don't? Is there any logic to that..

oh, & my spiney urgent died... weak...

    my empire is crumbling... haha

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll keep you posted
