I recently purchased a Banggai Cardinal. It looks to be about adult size. It doesn't seem to enjoy what I feed my tank which is a Red Sea brand very small pellet type marine food that my clown and chromis go nuts for. Then a few times a week I feed Arcti-Pods for my corals and the chromis goes nuts as well.

What's best for this guy? He goes after the other food but always spits it back out?

bangaii are very hard to get to eat in our tanks. Once you can get them eating, they usually are a hardy fish, however many wild bangaii dont eat.

I always use RODS food to feed my fish, especially when they are first added. It has such a variety of food in there that usually there is something that they will go after

I feed mysis as well to mine. They go nuts for that. I do have them eating pellets now too, but it took a long time.

Mine started with mysis, but now eats brine, pellets, and those packets from marine land. Not sure whats in them I always get them free at local reef meets. Mine made the transition when I started mixing the food together before feeding.

+2 - Same experience as Matt. Got them started on mysis then starated soaking pellets in defrosted mysis water. Finally have it switched over to where I can feed either product and it will eat.

Mysis and squid seem to be the favorites. Keep in mind they are also nocturnal feeders - try feeding after lights out.

    Mine will not eat pellets

The Banggai seems to be doing OK so far. I just picked up some frozen Mysis and will be feeding it tonight after lights out. :)
