I've been running the 300 DD FOWLR without lights. The tank is so big that there is more than enough ambient light for the fish, and to see them. I may add some soft lighting in the future, but for now, I like how it looks. Only problem is, that there is not enough light to take non-flash pictures, which I prefer. So, I'll post more pictures of the big fish in the future, but they'll have to be flash photos. :p

    Here's some to start:

Gorgeous fish Jerry, definitely get some lighting for the tank. Something with a decent amount of red and blue to bring out the colors on the fish.

Ahhh, I should have explained it better. The pictures with the flash make the tank look much, much darker than it really is. I had a six bulb TEK over it, and didn't like it at all, so I took it down. Plus, NO algae, and the tank is super clean. If I add any lights at all, it will be one or two small spots in the front. I like the contrast from light to dark, and with a three foot deep tank, the fish seem to appear from the shadows when they swim to the front. You'd have to see it in person.

No need to turn lights on unless you are taking pictures.

Puts a good amount of light in the front of the tank. Right where I want it.
