Thanks a lot, Cheryl! ;D Yes, that's an ORA Red Goniopora. For some reason, mine stays in a fairly tight ball, but it's a bright color.

My son told me about the 18% gray, and that helped, but the colors were still way off. I just happened to stumble on this setting by accident. Good idea on the connectors. It's nice to have something already in the tank to sample off of.

Ummm...work a lot and only do minimal maintenance? Maybe it's that I learned over time what not to screw up? I'm not really sure myself, but the reef tank has been a lot easier to take care of, and more enjoyable to watch. Thanks for the compliment!

    Really? What happened?

The only LPS issue that I'm having is dealing with the amphipods. For the time being, Interceptor is not being manufactured. I've done some Bayer insect killer dips, and they seem to have helped a little, but every night I check the tank, there they are eating LPS and Zoas. It's not a huge impact right now, but I'm concerned that their numbers seem to be increasing. I haven't found a predator to keep them in check yet, so I'm deploying Amphipod trap 1.0 tonight. Like I have nothing better to do than to stay up late trying to catch amphipods. lol

It is a dry heat, yeah right !

I had heard this Jerry, do you know why they are not manufacturing it.
I have had some people call from back east looking for Interceptor for their pets.
    Bayer is purely for dips?

Not sure why, but I had heard about it before I made a plea with a local vet. She was sympathetic, and would have given me some if she had it.

The Bayer dip is a more effective means of killing pods, red bugs, etc. Dip only. I used the amount recommended by the thread on RC - .5 ml/2 cups of saltwater. 15 minutes in the dip, rinse in saltwater, back in the tank. A LFS has been using it for a while now with great results.

Hmmm I will have to investigate that.

Unfortunately a dip just seems like such a temp fix. That type of tx for RB seems like a lesson in frustration. Wish I could get with the mind set of some that RB are just part of a tank.

I have read the thread, well a couple months ago. Guess I should go back and see what is new on it.

The Miami Hurricane pictured above has the rim chewed by the amphipods. I bought a new Silver Lepastrea frag. Cut the plug in half and glued each to a small rock. One was doing great, and the other went downhill fast. Shined a flashlight at night, and it was covered with big amphipods. Just tonight I saw them eating the centers of Zoas, eating the edge of a big Lobo, mobbing the Lepastrea, and eating a chalice frag that was growing great.
