It may turn out to be a Majano, but I had two other Ricordia babies come from the same orange mother, in the same vicinity. I did just get new corals, so it could turn out to be a pest. I'll let it grow out a bit.

Thanks, stole the idea from Reef Builder's. ;)

Took some updated shots of nearly everything in the DT. These were taken with all of the LED's on, and all except the FTS's were underwater.

Bubble algae is about 50% gone after increasing the return pump flow, adding more light to the chaeto and adding a few Emerald crabs. I've only seen the Emeralds eat one tiny piece of bubble algae so far, but they are going to town on the red turf type stuff.

    Obligatory FTS's

Had some good scores on free corals lately. The first two is the large 6" plus acro and the little purple guy in the lower right. A friend was breaking his tank down and wanted me to have them. The third freebie is the Blue Stag.

New corals from the swap. I have more, but they are in the frag tank.

Not sure what this one is, but the tips glow blue under the actinics.

    Hey Jerry,

Both tanks look very nice. So after this long are you still as big of a fan of the LED's?

What do you think caused the outbreak of bubble algae? Lack of flow?

Funny image of the sand sifter, it blends in so well.

Acan garden, War Coral and Duncan look to have grown considerably.

Curious what SG do you keep the display at and do you have an ATO?

Wow Jerry when you come back you really make a statement!!LOL
Beautiful coral pictures bud. I can report that the Emeralds I purchased have totally irradicated the Bubble algae from my system. It took a while and I did manually remove a bunch right before I added them but they have cleaned up what was left.It helps that my tank was pretty clean and devoid of any other algae.I think it helps if they have no choice. Its either Bubble's or starve and thankfully they chose Bubbles.;)
Missed you man.Is that tank the one with the Taotronics fixtures on it?Have you upgraded it at all?

The LED's, yes, I am a fan. However, I can see the need for more colors in the light, and controllability. I was over at a friends house last week. He had just finished re-working his DIY light with UV, green, red and cyan, I think, and clustered them puck style. The colors were amazing.

I think the bubble algae was a part of a long algae issue. It started with the bryopsis. When that was gone, then came the cyano. When that was gone, the bubble algae took off. I believe that the root cause was slow flow to the sump, causing most of the nitrogen cycle to take place in the tank, not in the sump. The Emeralds are only in there to help out. Actually, my nemisis, the amphipods , seem to like eating the bubble algae just fine, which leads me to believe that their large population in my tank has been due to an abundance of algae to eat.

I know you like the War & Peace coral Cheryl. ;D The colors are better now that the huge Birdsnest isn't shadowing it.

I can't buy anything new without getting rid of something now, a problem I never thought I would have.

I'm always around Vinny! It's just that I do mostly reading and not posting when I'm busy with work.

Yep, same Taotronics, unmodified. Has anyone switched out for dimmable drivers?
