Ok my question is IF you buy base rock and then later on down the road you get the high lights or low lights for the tank. Can You place Live coral or plants onto the base rock? Does it need live rock? or just the light? THANKS Jace

The base rock will become live after a little while in your tank. You shouldn't have a problem placing coral on it later on.

IMO you should let the base rock acumulate a good amount of coraline on it and as long as your coral attatches it self then go w/ it i've heard stories of xenia growing up the glass walls of tanks. so i think good cured base rock would be fine

Nearly all of my rock was cured base. Now it's live, has some algae growing on it, and is coloring up nicely with coralline. Amphipods everywhere too, they scurry all over at night and in the morning when the lights come on. Have a few cool feather dusters growing too.
