Base Rock?

    I have about 100lbs + of base rock. what should i do with it?

    i have a 55gal tank im not using and im thinking or trying to get some growth on it. i got some purple up iv been using in my tank and from what i can tell its been working great. any ideas on how to get this going? do i need already live rock to get it started? well in know i do but how much? any other input would be great

    You're gonna need something to seed it. Live sand, Live Rock, whatever it is. If you can get some coralline from someone you know. Crush it up and put it on the rock. It'll start growing from there.

    is the rock in the tank or in the tubs? they will need light to get coraline.

    its in the tubs now but i have a 55 gal im going to put it in with lights

    cool. i would seed with some LR. even one good piece will do the job in time.

    But how much light i have regular hood with regular old lights will that work. i have pretty much a 55 gal fresh water set up

    LR doesnt have to have coraline on it. LR is live when it is full of bacteria. If you want coraline, you should get some PCs. cheap and coraline grows like crazy under them. But, like i said, it doesnt need coraline to be "live."

    I want coraline because il probably end up selling it id rather it look really good.

    power compacts. they are not great reef lights, but coraline grows like crazy under them. one 10K and one actinic.

    am i gunna need to do any water changes or anything
