Yes just a small twist then the collection cup comes right off, only needs 3/8" clearance.

Do you have to unscrew the lid off of the bashea? It looks like a pain compared to the octopus.

if your doing mostly sps then i would say go with a bashsea or else an ETSS. The ETSS have been proven again and again and are much better for 200g+ tanks.

A lot of people that i know with 10-20 years experience still use ETSS skimmers (Dan Rigle, Sanjay on his home reef and the PSU one).

With needle wheels you have to clean the pumps every few months for them to work properly. They only pull out this light green "tea" like liquid.
With downdraft skimmers you are literally pulling out a solid stinky "mud" from your tank. I think there are more DOM in "mud" than in "tea"

And lastly, the needlewheels have to be replaced every couple of years and the pumps go bad and the technology is constantly being outdated and the pumps need mods just to make them work better... On the other hand, a downdraft paired with the proper pump will last you 10+ years and never need a mod to make it work better.
Seriously give a downdraft a thought, after a few years of dealing with the needlewheel pains, I have decided to go with an ETSS.
