    So i have 7 lbs of live rock in a ten gallon tank. Do i need more??? If so can iadd another piece without the nitrites spiking because i use cycle one my tank for the nitrites and ammonia?

    Sparky I think they are asking /saying that they used some potion to cycle the tank with and if they added another rock will it kick the cycle off again ?

    Oh, OK. If that's the question, then I guess it would depend on how much die-off could be expected on the rock to be added. If it's cured well, I suppose it could only help things out.

    If it's covered in algae, then not so much.

    sorry about that i was in a hurry...late to class...i used the product cycle to help keep the ammonia and nitrites down on my tank...my tank cycled on its own for 6 weeks...i am still using the product cycle so if i was to add another rock would my nitrite levels spike???

    More likely yes, be wise to put the rock that you are going to use in a big container with an air stone or a power head for some time until it cures.
