This is a picture of a closed brain I have that really reached out tonight as I was changing some of the mechanical filtration (sponges and floss) and actually a bunch of crap ended up in the display tank but he seamed to like it. I recently found this great shelf piece of rock that I put him on. He's showing that it works for him.:)

    Very nice coral. Awesome shape.

One reason I don't use mechanical filtration. Everything is food in the water column.

One way of feeding corals (and keeping your sump clean) is to have a small powerhead in your sump that is on a timer. Have it pop on for 10 minutes in the middle of the night every night.

Once a week I would put on a 1 micron filter bag and powerhead off my rocks. Worked well for me.

Actually, that's Tangster's idea. I can't believe I never thought of it. I was always up past the time when the DT lights were off. My powerhead was my hand swishing my sump around before going to bed. ;D

+K to this statement! I stopped using filter socks about a month ago and have since noticed longer feeder tentacle reach in all my LPS with them.

I've got that same exact type of brain thats about 7 inch diamter, for the first month or so it only opened at night, but now it opens immediately whenever i feed. I love the look of it when its open.
