I know it sounds kind of crazy but does anyone have a beer bottle in their aquarium? I went to the Florida keys this spring and dove on a couple reefs. I noticed some bottles on the reef, I was told before we dove that if we saw bottles or cans to just leave them out there. Why??? we were told that if a bottle is out on the reef for more than a day it will usually have an inhabitant, taking it out would destroy a critters home. once I got back home I was looking at my tank and thought about putting a bottle in my tank, I thought it would be a cool and (sadly) natural look to the tank. Check it out, I was thinking of growing some zoas or yumas on it.

I never put bottles in a reef tank.. Although I have seen GSP encrusted bottles for sale at a LFS.

I had a customer with a freshwater Piranha tank. They had me put about 4-5 absolute bottles in the tank. It looked cool but I don't think I'd ever do it for one of my own tanks.

Maybe you should think about adding more garbage to your reef tank. Perhaps a dead body and some used needles. :) Just kidding.

I had one in my old freshwater tank. My cherry shrimp liked to get in it. I don't know if I'd put one in my salt water tank though. Just my opinion.

it is just glass... so functionally, I do not see a problem. I think it looks cool too.

I am definitely not one of the people that seems to go for the "natural" look as much as "looks nice" (to the eyes of that tanks reefer) - I think it is unattainable in a box. So I am all for adding things (bones, skulls, bottles, toy planes, spongebob toys, etc. (so long as they are inert)). Just my take on my hobby, not your take on your hobby folks.

Having said that... i also enjoy the irony that it probably does look more "natural" with a bit of refuse in it. in today's world anyway. unfortunate, but the truth.

ive seen them in peoples tanks before
some just leave them until they are encrusted with coraline
or you can grow zoas and gsp etc on them.

it would be neat if you could get something to host it

Do they even make leaded paint anymore? I mean outside of China.
