begining a reef setup

    i would just order a skimmer off the web then. As for corals you would be good to start out with some softies, zoas, and maybe some easier LPS after you get your feet wet with the softies.

    Personally I would rather have no skimmer than a Sea Clone.

    Save up and buy a better brand.

    well.. thanks for the refugium advice i will try to get one as soon as possible to install to the tank. i guess the good news for me is the tank is stable since it has been running for about a year now do you uys suppose itas ready for corals ? also what corals would be good for my experience and tank size?

    Paly's and Zoa's would be a good start for corals. I would replace the canister filter with a HOB kind or a refgium, those things are nitrate factories and are likely the cause of your algae outbreak. I have often wanted to experiment with turning a canister filter into a refugium, anybody on here try that? T-5 lighting is suffiecnt for soft coral's.
