Hi, I just joined this site and was wondering if you could recommend some good corals for me to start off with. I have had a 26 gallon aquarium for about 2 years with fish and live rock. But now I would like to add some corals. I talked to someone at my local fish store and they said that with my filter and lights I could probably do any kind of corals I liked.

Depends which way you want to go, softies, LPS, SPS...

    I personally prefer soft corals.

It is not recommended to mix coral types, but I keep some frogspawn in my reef which is heavily populated with colts, mushrooms, zenias, kenya trees, polyps & zoo's. (the frogspawn grows like crazy and I have to keep breaking it up and moving to different locations...)

All very durable and easy to keep. (in my tank anyway :p )

Good luck and have fun...go slow...lots to choose from out there. (try to go cheap in beginning to make sure your tank and water quality are up to speed.

    Keep us posted!

Knowing what lighting you have will help us help you choose :)

Welcome to 3reef! Best of luck and hope you enjoy your time here at 3reef!
There are many factors that, along with lighting and water flow, influence how successful you and your corals will fare in a captive environment.
I would go with brown or green Star polyps and Corallimorphs(mushrooms) to start off, to get the feel for and to introduce corals in your tank for the first time!

Hi, every one I am new to the site just not new to reef keeping. A tank this size you could keep Mushrooms, buttons, star polyps, zoas and a few other softies. You could do SPS or LPS but you may have to really beef up your filtration and adding many supplements, which might be a bit over whelming in the beginning. Hope this helped!
