I am! But I use a Nikon D80 which is a DSLR, not a point and shoot like a Coolpix. So I am probably not much help...

But the same basic techniques still apply: keep the lens right on the glass, keep the flash off, use a tripod if possible, shoot with the daylights on...

Marshall, I don't know what a DSLR is :) See, it's a language all its own. Basically, spoke to hubby and I can't do what I want to do with the camera he gave me (thank you hubby) unless I have a macro lense and he doesn't have one for this camera. I guess this makes me feel a little better that I haven't been able to figure out how to get the pics I want. I need to use his Nikon to get what I want.....so, the begging begins lol

Does he have a 70-300mm lens. I believe they have very good magnification at 300mm and will give you a good close up shot. You will need to stay about 6 feet from your target to get the best magnification.

You can shoot through one of these and get great close-up shots.

The Portal viewer can magnify corals really well, Acro IDs will never be the same

Thanks for the tip 2 in 10. He's got a few various (expensive) lenses so I hope one is what you mention. I think I may end up with ok, honey, I'll stand right here while you take a few shots so I'll have to get the best bang for the buck in a short time.

Just a side note, that others may enjoy. When I asked about using the camera and why he couldn't just give it to me to use, the response was - sure if I can get in your reef tank and rearrange your rock and such the way I'd like to see it lol. I guess we're both pretty passionate and territorial in our hobbies. ;)

That is a very cool idea and I like the thought of having something like that just in general. Thx for the idea barbianj!

    Very nice pics, OFK.

FTR, I have to get my daughter to take my pics. When I try to use my auto-focus digital camera, every pic is so blurry that all you can see is fuzzy blobs. :-/
