LOL.... I was doing just that as you posted this.... eleven o'clock at night elbows deep in my rear mechanics, cleaned the pump, chambers, bioballs.... didn't get to bed till 2am, my husband thinks I'm a fruitcake... (but believe me I wasn't missing anything up there...::))
I removed ALOT of crud... hopefully that was the issue.
Anyone know how to get at the bottom intake area in a bio??? I can see a big chunk of sludge in there but I can't get at it??

May very well get a skimmer anyway, as I know I'm not done with corals... will test later today, but should probably let it settle out a bit anyway. I swear if they could have talked my fish & inverts would have said "Yo lady WTF???" last night..... poor guys, 20% water change 3 days ago, then another 15% last night... poor buggers....

Thanks for all your advice guys....awesome & helpfull as always ;D!

If you are going to rinse them, do it with water from a water change. If you use regular water or ro/di it will kill off the good bacteria that builds up on those balls, hence the name "bio balls"8)
