Is it okay to mix your salt water and get it up to temp all within about 3 hours? Then do the water change? What are the benefits of leaving it overnight etc if im using RO/DI and the same salt crytals each time?

As long as the salt mix desolves and the water is the same temp, you should be fine. Most ppl will test the new mixed salt to see if it matches some what to they're own before pouring it in.

Someone said when it is first mixed the PH is high and it drops to normal after a day. Not really sure if that's it true.

Yeah i thought that originally, but i've tested it before and the PH is always spot on. The salt crystals claim to make a perfect PH each time, so I guess they have thought about that and lived up to it.

It's water change day here and i'm going to put it in now!

I usually make it the night before I plan on doing the water change. I've never bothered to test anything other than salinity and temp, its just I've read that it goes through a caustic stage if it hasn't sat for 24 hours.

No idea if this is true or not ... but its never been such a hassle that i haven't been able to prep the night before.
