As my other thread stated I have a big problem with Aipastia. I wanted to go the natural route to rid my tank of these pest, but I couldn't get a fish nor shrimp. I have only a ten gallon and one nasty pistol shrimp. ;D I decided on Berghia nudibranches, a 3reefer stated I should look at the welfare of the Nudibranch, because once the Aipastia was gone they would die. They only eat Aipastia. I thought this over for a few days and thought I am going to build a ten gallon for nudibranch and Aipastia. ha Sounds funny, but both are beautiful creatures and deserve to live.

i like the idea. do you have any idea how many nudibranches you can keep without decimating the aiptasia population? you would probably be able to loan or rent the little guys out to needy people in your area.

They are colony eaters. It's kinda cool. They move like a like slug wolf pack.;D;D;D They will keep reproducing in little colonies, If this is correct they lay between 100 to 300 eggs. They have a very short life span though. I have plenty for them to pig out on though. It would take week if not months for them to get it under control, even then there still would be more.

I would check that your Pistol won't eat the nudi's before adding them. I know that peppermints will and coral banded shrimp pose a threat. Good idea though.

Yeah dude, I would for sure get some if you don't have nudibranch predators in your tank. They worked like a charm! Not a single aipastia left.

Cool the tank currently only has corals and snails. Who did you buy them from?

peppermint shrimp. I added 3 to my tank today after getting so frustrated with aiptasia, within 3 seconds my peppermint shrimp ate them up, well two that i saw, the third is in the rock, I only assume it will be eaten. Soo frusterating i got the nudibranch because the peppermint wouldnt eat it, and instead they ate my nudibranchs.
