Is the protein skimmer called Berlin Airlift 60 a good skimmer for a 45gal tank with 1 yellow tang, 2 maroon clowns, 2 damsels, 3 hermit crabs, and 1 sand sifting star

I personally don't think it's the best skimmer. Especially with that many fish...
My suggestion if you're on a tight budget, would be the SeaClone 100. DRS Foster Smith are having a sale on it now you can pick it up now for I believe 80 bucks.

    Welcome to 3 reef hulkakajose

I have used both the Berlin airlift 60 and the airlift 90 and enjoyed using them both on different set ups (still have the 90, but its been retired)
I have since upgraded to a pump driven skimmer hence no longer using the 90

I got a reasonable amount of dark skimmate ( ignore the water level marks on the unit of you get it as with a decent air pump you will just get off coloured water in the cup- raise it so the water level marks are maybe 2 inches or so above the water level and you can get coffee coloured skimmate from both of these units IME)

There are better options available , at higher prices, I would agree, but IMO these are pretty effective skimmers

Get a few spare wooden air stones as the effectiveness of the skimmer is compromised by the diffuser becoming clogged and thus the amount of air is impeded

get an adjustable air pump to use with it, then you can fine tune it (to much air and you get froth with no colour in it at all filling your cup

I used mine with an Ehiem pump which has flow control
