You do not have to buy L/R and in a 90 you will need about 150 to 200lbs or all you can get in there I had 800lbs in the 180 then just under 1/2 of that went into the 90 that replaced the leaking 180.. And all the water flows you can shove past the corals . We are moving close to ?? 1700 1200 1800 1300 900 ?? about 7,000GPH we have 2 pieces of LPS coral and they are not doing so well :) holding on for deal life about to blow the flesh off the skeletons LOL And am about to bump the flow up another 2,000GPH in a few weeks .

In the early days all that we had where the 4500 and 5,000 K lamps and lots , When the 65K came along man that was state of the art :) The system like all the new and improved ideas did not totally live up as a stand along totally all inclusive filtration methoed Like so many before and after the old Berlin's . I never liked putting all my eggs in a single basket I cheated I ran carbon and bio media in a old fluval :) and a NO3 Coil :) I find a little of one some of the other and a dap of this one makes for the better more stable filtration system.. This is why we keep so many healthy larger tangs and such in such a small tank.
