Which 5-7 fish would you put in a 30 gallon tank?

    2 ocillaris clowns
    1 sixline wrasse
1 blennie (They're just darned cool)
    1 royal gramma

    other possibles:
mandarin dragonet (NB YOU WILL NEED A HUGE STACK OF PODS OR THE ABILITY TO BREED 'EM)
bengai cardinal (these aren't colorful, but for some reason it's really fun to watch 2-3 of them swimming under a ledge in the rockwall)
Yellow Angel (if you can get a 35 do it, any extra space for this guy will help, but it will go in a 30 if you absolutely must have an angel)
    smaller butterflies (longnose is perfect)

other impossibilities (do not put in tank):
    any tang, puffer, or trigger

see http://reefcleaners.org/index.php?option=com_philaform&Itemid=50&form_id=1 for help with your Cleanup Crew.

(also the FAQ in my profile may be of use to you) +K too because you need it!

You don't want more than 5 little fish in a 30. Good Luck

This is untrue and depends on both the size and bioload of the fish, and the amount of care you're willing to put in. It also depends upon your mechanical and biological cleaning system. It also depends on your choice of fish.

1 fish inch per 4 gallons would give you 8 fish inches, and there's any number of fish you can do with that, and if you're willing to do more frequent WC's you could push that to 1:2.5 or so. (this would require some serious water changing ~10% 2x/week, and careful monitoring as this may increase fish stress)

This is however a NANO tank and things can go wrong very very quickly, so close monitoring, testing, and care must be taken.

trelane has a pretty good list, though I would have to disagree with putting any butterfly in a 30 long term (long nose get to 8"+). Other cool fish that would work would be a firefish, chromis, or a jawfish.

This is a 100% preference choice. I tend to like to pick 'em to get a spread of fish in the water column. As much as I love wrasses I left one out a sixline. I have had bigger issues with them bullying, especially in smaller tanks.
That being said, my list would probably look something like:

1x pearly jawfish(or if you had the coin a blue spot)
    1x royal gramma(or firefish)
1x yellow watchman goby(or high fin, or diamond)
1x perc clown(Pick your flavor, or 1-2 green chromis)
    1x cardinal(banggai or pajama)

    Wildcard: carpenters flasher wrasse

qucik question, why would you need pods for the madarin dragonet fish? is it because they are picky eaters? and wont eat what you put in the tank like brine?

And i kinda made this thread just to see what ppl would like if they had a 30 gallon tank. I myself do have a 30 gallon but i do have a list of what fish i'd like to have, wanted to see what some experts or ppl that know more then me would think.

    30 gallon(would like to have)
    -2 occelaris clownfish
    -six line wrasse
    -clown goby
    -yasha goby
    -Hawkfish.'

Why do blennies and gobies put the same thoughts into my head. what do blennies do that gobies don't. Vice Versa?

thanks, Just thought i put that out there. Would like to hear what the people think, and wonder what they would like.

I really want a Sixline wrasse, but you kow what thats the second time in about an hour ive seen some one say something bad. Would you not recomend a six line? what if you got him really small? and would a yellow wrasse be okay with a six line wrasse?

Pods are pretty much the only thing they eat. IF, and that is a big IF, you can get one to eat prepared foods, you are one lucky guy.

I did a 6 line, pair of black and white clowns and some chromis along with a dragon goby, had no issues with the 6 line bullying because the clowns are way bigger bullies once they settle a nest
