I actually had black for the last 6 months or so. I changed it yesterday. It felt like too much, especially since I have black sand. I changed to a blue, it's a little light for my taste, but it pops a little more.

I like flat black/black.......Blue is actually better for reflectiveness. Comparatively speaking, Blue is alot lighter than black and will reflect your lighting rather than absorb all of it like black will.8)

mine is black also. I started out with blue but changed it. I got a piece of black vinyl from a friend who makes vinyl lettering for signs.

I have the reversable black/blue backgroud you can get in fish stores. I had black one on it at first then randomly switched it to blue to see which one I liked better. I like the blue a little bit more

Use acrylic artist paint and it will peel off easily if need be. In my tank thread I have a side by side comparison of blue vs black. I prefer the blue but I also left room to keep it clean.

Personal preference, I like black. Every tank I've had has been painted black on the outside back. To me, I can focus more on the tank's contents when the back isn't competing. IMO the wide variety of colors in a reef tank stand out more prominently when the background isn't vying for attention.

Blue is my favorite color in "real life." Black in a tank allows the color of my corals to scream the loudest, and that's just how I like it! :)

Do you think having a black background will cause increase the average water temperature significantly, if the paper will be absorbing lots of light?

Thanks for everyone's input so far!
