I am no expert on ro's but what I did was. Found a local plumber selling ro's vertex water ro to be exact.. Bought a add on di off the net and he gave me a 75 gpd ro and di for 130 dollars.. As long as you get zero tds dont think it matters to much but I dont know) He also threw in extra sediments and carbon. Think he was happy to get the business. I would say just try to find a quality sediment and carbon and di etc and you cant go wrong.. Good luck)

These guys are by far hard to beat and say if you give them a price they will match or beat. RO/DI Systems I have their 5 stage I paid $135.00 I think.

Hands down its this one for $149 easily:
SpectraPure Customer Appreciation SALE! 20% - 50% off

They are on sale this month at a great savings. No other vendor tests their membranes perfromance, either batch or individual, custom blends every ounce of their DI resin for optimum performance and supplies so much value for less. Don't fall into the "stages" game, look at what the stages contain not how many. Thats an old ebay trick to make a cheezy drinking water system sound like the best thing since sliced bread. The number of stages means absolutely nothing, the quality does.
Look for a low micron prefilter, no larger than 1 micron. Look for a low micron carbon block, no larger than 1 micron and 0.6 or 0.5 is better. Look for a full size 10", 20 oz. vertical refillable DI canister and cartridge. And stick with a name brand RO membrane like the 75 GPD Dow Filmtec which is what the Spectrapure units start out with before they work their magic on them. They provide a proprietary treatment process on all their membranes and on the MaxCap units they individually hand test each and every membrane and guarantee its performance in writing.

The $149 unit includes a 1 micron prefilter, 1 micron carbon block, 90 GPD batch tested and treated RO membrane, custom blended SilicaBuster DI resin in a refillable cartridge, a dual inline TDS meter and an inline pressure gauge. I don't think anyone can touch it even at the regular price.

the list that as the "Pro Plus" ,but you don't see that under their RO/DI listings (just the MaxCap and csp-di units)

I'm down to the MaxCap or the Typhoon III Extreme
    I need a little push

    +1 on the filterguys.

I have the oceanreef+1 5 stage Ro unit and it is great.

Make sure to get the 75g GE filmtech RO membrane. That is the industry standard for membranes, has been for years. I think the filterguys only use that membrane, unless you really want something else. You won't need more than 75gpd.
