I am looking into getting a protein skimmer. I dont want to spend more than $200, less than that would be great. But i want a good one. Also, what is the sump thing about, i dont know how it works. It is way more involved and difficult than an HOB? Does it cost more to set up a sump? How do you set one up? If an HOB is much easier, what is an afforable yet quality HOB skimmer? Can someone please help?

I have an AquaC Remora. Works really good. It is a Hang on Back skimmer. Try to find stuff used or on ebay you will save a lot of money. I noticed you are from CT what part?

Both the octopus's and remora are excellent skimmers. I have a Octopus on my 40 and love it.
    Both are HOB

I think im gonna get the Red Sea Berlin X2 Venturi. I know someone who's had a 90 gal reef tank set up for a while with the X2 Turbo, which is pretty much the same skimmer only for a bigger tank, and the tank looks great. They swear by the Berlin X2s. I've heard other people say that they arent impressed with it, but from what i see in this 90 gal reef tank, i am very impressed. Also i know red sea is a good reputable brand.
