What corals and clams do you plan on keeping? What size is the tank and fixture?

I'm not making it into a reef tank yet, but some time in the future, so I just have a 24 in fixture on a 20g high.

I would suggest 1 ATI Blue Plus and 1 ATI Coral Plus. Put the CP in front for a lighter look to the tank. Reverse the order for a bluer look. ATI is a top of the line bulb and very powerful as well long lasting.

Just saw your post on softies or mushrooms. A coral plus and a pure actinic would work fine on the tank.

What about if I'm not using corals at all then what bulbs would I choose?

If you have no corals... Whatever looks best to you. I would look at other people's tanks until you find the colors you are looking for. There are very few rules. Generally it is best not to go all actinic if you have corals. But, the rest is up to you. You can go all white(10k ish) or white + purple or white+actinic or blue+purple. IME, It is usually best to throw at least one white bulb in. Otherwise the blue and purples don't look natural to me..
