wanting to add some coral to the tank here in the next month or so and wanted to get your guys thoughts on what would be the best coral to introduce to a fairly new tank. I have had corals in the past but the tank was well set up when i added them. Thanks.

Kenya trees are pretty hardy, and easy to keep. Umbrella corals are also fairly easy to keep too and are beautiful with right amount of flow imo

While kenya trees are pretty durablew they also spread like crazy. I would suggest some basic like zoa's, or poylp's. Hit the LFS or ebay for some cheap in expensive frags and see how it goes.

ya kenyas ill pass on i know they spread like weeds. I already hit the LFS for a cheap rock that had about 4 polups on it and a frag with two zoas so far so good. So maybe ill look into adding a little more zoas.. and ill look into umbrella corals never heard of them..

probably best with zoas, palys, mushrooms, and maybe xenia...if you can find a local reef club id recommend looking into them, reef club members like to help out the guy i first met gave me like 3 red mushrooms, a 1" rock with about 15 zoa heads on it and a 4" piece of xenia and some macro algae all for about $15

I really like xenia and waving hand anthelia. My kenya tree is spreading and I wish I had not gotten it.

    just to add

finger leather, and toodstool corals are also pretty hardy species

They do not have the same take over tendency as kenya trees or Anthellia IME ( When I wanted to rid my tank of softies prior to going SPS, the Anthellia was the most difficult species for me to remove, as it had spread covering 3 or 4 surrounding rocks, removal of the colony left me with Friar Tucks hair cut Anthellia on surrounding rocks )
