Best filter for a 30 gallon

    The fact that you have filter feeders does not negate the preference for a skimmer. Remember that the skimmer won't remove absolutely everything from the water, just most of the junk. The filter feeders will likely get enough food just from your feedings.

    Bottom line, I'd strongly recommend a quality skimmer over a HOB filter, anyday. I have a 30g tank that I use as a quarantine tank, and I use an emperor 400 on it. And even that doesn't do a great job if I have a high bioload.

    I ran a penguin bio 200 for a while on my 30 along with a skimmer.. I fast realized that my skimmer was kicking the biowheels butt up and down so I got rid of it all together.. Get a skimmer, you wont regret it..

    Frog puffer

    My cousin caught a what i was told was a frog puffer i had it in my tank with my three damsels he didnt eat the flake food that they eat so i dropped one shrimp pellet in that i had for my freshwater tank and he just loves it is it okay for him to eat that? And second of all is he okay for my aquarium or will i have problems later???
