one that uses a needle wheel IMO. octopuses are suppose to be good, i have a coralife 125 and it gets the job done pretty good. other people will recommend there favorites.
edit my father has a euro-reef its but more expensive but its a good one.

Go do what I did many yrs ago, which was, go to any LFS or petsmart and look how the factory ones are built. That will give you a good skeleton to copy and improve it. Luna

Most stand are all the same, what changes a little are the personal pref's and modifications that one needs to make. Im sure if you google or youtube it, you'll find something. Luna

I agree with all above. Sump/Fuge for that kind of tank is definately the best way to go, and well within your budget it sounds like. You sound like a DIY type of person obviously, so an easy thing to do is to build your sump/fuge. A glass aquarium, maybe a 55g for your setup but I'M NOT SURE on that size, so don't take it from me, and some acrylic or glass panels that you or someone else can cut to size. Use some silicon glue, add your media/sand/LR/plant life, a return pump and skimmer, and TA DAAA you're done.

For the stand, fabricate or sketch out a strong strong basic frame for the stand AND sump system, and make a list of features you'd want to have. Maybe the sump is on some industrial rollers so that it can be pulled out, i really don't know how you'd accomplish that with well over 600 pounds on the rollers, but it's an idea. Maybe some removable sheet metal panels for walls/doors to the stand?

My biggest suggestion is research every possibility and then find out what works best for you. It takes time, but saves a TON of headache. Maybe even a Teraton. I'm not sure if that's a real measurement though...you get the idea.
