So you are going with a DSB system then ? I'd not mix a refugium and a sump into a single combo better off to totally isolate them from one another except for the flow out of the fuge .. If you go with a DSB and I'd never use one again myself then all your filtration need are met with in that system according to Dr who dug it back out of month balls .. May want to read one of his book on the DSB method.. Honestly I'd pick me a method and then decide on it then go with that idea I see so many get confused and over whelmed and end up with a mess Hell use do for this tank what you did with all the others if the methods worked for you ?

Thanks for the help, i am only going to use the filter for the first part when the tank is first setup. i will leave it on for a month or two and then just go to carbon. why do you say not to mix a refug and a sump. i have seen them on line baffled. i am using a 70 gal tank so the refug will get the outer 25 gallons and the middle will be 30 gallons for the canister filter and skimmers and the last 15 gallons is for the return no bubbles. i like the deep sand bed i have it in my 150 and i do 20% water changes every week. and i have not really had any problems. maybe only once because i was over feeding the fish allot. so my fault. thanks for the help would like to her some more input please.
