Definitely add a small fish. An SPS tank appears too static so you'll want movement. I would consider some other interesting inverts too. Pom Pom and porcelain crabs are neat. You could add a fire shrimp. Maybe add a goby and pistol shrimp too.

Fish poo is one of the best coral foods for SPS. Fish eats=> Takes 10% of the nutrition and poops out the remaining 90% => Bacteria attack the fish poo to obtain this nutrition => Flow in tank blows the bacteria against the SPS => SPS eats the "enriched" bacteria.

With only one or two fish, you'll want some sort of additional coral food.

So would that mean carbon dosing is more beneficial to the corals then macro algae?

Graybeard: If you don't want fish, have I got the stuff for you:

Welcome to Reef Nutrition, $250 minimum order if you go direct though. Maybe try some from an online store. I would recommend the tiger pods if you add fish, and from there, I use Phyto Feast, Oyster Feast, and Roti Feast. My corals LOVE it.

Ok... a few small fish for sure. It makes sense now completing the cycle for needed food.

Gobies and peppermint shrimp fit the bill?

    Anyone?
