I'm looking around and debating on what protein skimmer to go with for a 36gal corner tank. I have 14" to work with on one side of the tank. It's the last thing that I need for my tank. I've looked at the sea clone by instant ocean, reef octopus bh-100 and the red sea prizm hob.

Any other suggestions for anything under $150?

Reef octopus has gotten good reviews. I got the coralife super skimmer 65 because it was $95. I am happy with it so far, but the reef octo has gotten better reviews and doesn't cost that much more. If I had it to do again, I think thats what I would go with.

I'd like to find one at the LFS but they don't have reef octopus yet... I found it on thatpetplace.com, not sure how they are for service

I bought an Odyssea PS-75 off ebay and have been pleasantly surprised for the price! Understand that you get what you pay for, but given that, it is possible to get into this hobby on a budget.:)

Reef Octopus, Eshopps, CPR... Just steer clear of the SeaClown. Most anybody that has used one will tell you it's a worthless POS (including me).

I have eshopps and I am pretty happy with it. I just bought a in sump skimmer from eshopps as well waiting for everything to arrive to finish my sump.

I'll have to second Seano's recommendation. Granted it's not a HOB version, but it's footprint is small enough that it shouldn't be much different than the RO's pump hanging in the tank.
