Best HOB skimmer (need a new one)

    agree on the high price of the Deltec, the only reason I got one was I financed it without interest so didn't feel too bad. However, I was so impressed with it and def felt it lived up to it's reputation and price tag.

    The other great thing about it was it has a high resale value, when I sold it I only lost maybe $70 and that's pretty good for something used.

    Excellent point on resale value!!! Kind of like a used Subaru!

    Very true on a used Subie except for ill never get the resale value out of all the parts lol well maybe the PPG gearset in the tranny lol

    having run 2 x Deltec MCE600 over the years on different set ups
    I agree they are amazing units

    but I would also state that I have been genuinely impressed with the performance of Reef Octopus
    I have a BH 1000 on my 75 now - and in terms of skimmate production it does seem to compete with the Deltec it replaced (Deltec was almost 3 years old, so I did not get to compare them at their peak)

    if your going to run with a light to medium bio load - then the BH1000 would be ideal IMHO
    If your stocking with large messy eaters and have a high bio load the BH2000 may be a better option

    Thank you for all the help Well i got the eshopps psk-100h, i want to get the Reef Octopus as it is silent operation but the $300 was a little pricey for me right now with the other things that happend to my tank recently. Also came home to the wet side of my MP40 spinning last night lol so have a new wet side coming tom not a good week for me lol
